“I’ll be falling free and so in love,” he sings, “Might break my heart but God she drives me wild.” Chesney wrote the song with Shane Mc Anally and Josh Osborne, and he included it on his 2014 album last year, it was influenced by all the women in his life.
“‘Wild Child’ is telling some girl out there that’s got dreams, that’s a free spirit, who’s smart and interesting, that she has a chance, that she is worthy,” Chesney said.
Tourmates Kenny Chesney, Tim Mc Graw, Jake Owen and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals have bragging rights to the highest-grossing tour of any genre this year, with more than a million tickets sold.
A demo was delivered and Grace admits, “this is the first time on the very first listen of the song I immediately picked up the phone and said happened.
Kenny concludes, “if two people from two different backgrounds (Chesney from East Tennessee and Grace from Vermont) who never met can find common ground and make magic happen, that just proves music is the most universal and powerful thing we have in our lives.” The Shaun Silva directed video was cast against a perfectly overcast background in different locations – one being Malibu – and filmed at times through the special effects of Tequila goggles, enhancing the depth of emotions running through the lyric.
For that, she thanks her “You and Tequila” duet partner, Kenny Chesney.
“We love performing together, and he is one of my dearest friends. That’s the question nobody thinks to ask: is he as good of a guy as he seems to be? “He really took a risk inviting us on this tour, if you think about what we do musically.
